Celebrate the Illuminated Woman Spark Award

Consider a woman who had touched your life and community. Perhaps this extraordinary individual is a teacher, parent, sibling, friend or a stranger. What impact have they made on your life? In the world?

Many times people who have made a difference in our life do so without requesting anything in return and their acts of kindness, good deeds and going the extra mile to make a difference, may go unnoticed. You are now invited to recognize this person for the difference they have made by nominating them today for the 2010 Spark award.

The Spark Winner Receives:

• Two VIP tickets to attend the Ignite Your Spark women’s conference February 26-27 in Salt Lake City, UT.
• Airfare (within the continental US) or airfare credit of $300 (if live outside of continental US) to attend the 2010 Ignite Your Spark Women’s conference
• Hotel stay for three nights in beautiful downtown Salt Lake City, UT
• VIP meet n’ greet reception with the VIP guests and speakers on Thursday, February 25
• Additional giveaways, including custom handcrafted jewelry set (valued at $250) and other prizes from our partners and sponsors.
• The winner will be recognized on stage to receive this award as a sincere “Thank You” for making a difference in your life and ultimately in the world.

How to Nominate:

There are two ways to nominate someone.

1. Facebook

1. Become a fan of Illuminated Woman at www.facebook.com/IlluminatedWoman
2. Post a photo or video to the fan page and tell us about your nominee. Include the nominee’s name, location and what difference they have made. Include your name (the person who is nominating) in the video.
3. Email nomination [@] illuminatedwoman [.] com with the following information: Your name, email, phone number and mailing address. Also include the nominees name, email, phone number, mailing address and photo. Please indicate if the nominee can be contacted directly.

***Nominations are accepted through midnight Mountain time on December 31, 2009.

2. Email

Email nomination [@] illuminatedwoman [.] com with a video or photo and the following information: nominee’s name, location and what difference they have made. (If submitting a video, include your story of what difference your nominee has made and why they should win the 2010 Spark award). Also include in your email the nominee’s email, phone number, mailing address and photo. Include your name, email, phone number and mailing address.

Our Illuminated Woman Spark Award is truly inspired. Many people have contributed their generous support and vision to Illuminated Woman. One woman in particular is Alison Bleak Sparks, after whom the Spark Award and Spark Scholarships are named. Alison has bold courage to live life fully. Her humor, talent and pure joy instantaneously lights up a room. She is a no-nonsense kind of woman who does what ever it takes to reach her goals. Nothing gets in her way.

In 2008 we talked about events we would create to empower women and create communities of empowered women; these communities would change the world. These communities would make the difference for millions.

Alison’s life was shortened unexpectedly due to complications from a brain tumor in April 2009, before she could physically see the fruition of Illuminated Woman. So it is her memory that we honor women for years and generations to come, to carry forth her spirit and commitment to live an illuminated life. Her vision and energy is in every aspect of Illuminated Woman and it is with great honor that we carry on her legacy with our Spark Award and Spark Scholarships. This inaugural award will be given in February 2010 during the awards gala of the 2010 Ignite Your Spark Annual Conference.

So Alison, the Spark Award and Spark Scholarships are dedicated to you. For your light, your strength, your endurance. You were the person who never complained and who always celebrated life to the fullest every moment.  Thank you for being a light in this world. Your light shines on.

Nomination Schedule:

Nominations accepted through December 31, 2009.
January15: Entries will be reviewed and narrowed down to 10 semi-finalists
January 15-31: Public will vote on their top 3 nominees in
February 5: The Spark winner will be selected by the Illuminated Woman committee and announced
February 27: The Spark winner will be awarded during the awards gala

Rules:

Nominees cannot be Illuminated woman staff, volunteers, or immediate family of staff.
Illuminated Woman staff or immediate family cannot submit any nominations.
Complete nominations must be received by December 31, 2009 by midnight Mountain Time. Complete application includes video submission on the Illuminated Woman Facebook Fan Page and the email to nominations [@] illuminatedwoman [.] com.
